About Receipts

Receipts is a place to think together while keeping the evidence, uncertainty, and reasoning visible. The goal is not to win an argument; it is to improve our models of what is happening.

How We Reason

We value truth-seeking, empiricism, revisability, and judging ideas by outcomes. A sourced statement, an inference, and a working theory should not be collapsed into the same thing.

Community Principles

The culture should be curious, honest about uncertainty, willing to update, and oriented toward the flourishing of individuals and communities. Accountability and repair matter alongside explanation.

About Avatars

The archetypes grew out of Simon DeDeo’s explanatory-values framework, which asks what makes an explanation useful: does it account for the evidence, connect related facts, make meaningful predictions, unify different observations, stay simple, and remain precise enough to be tested?

We turned those values into six human roles: The Auditor, The Connector, The Forecaster, The Cartographer, The Editor, and The Constraint-Setter. They are not personality types or rankings. They are reminders that good collective reasoning usually depends on different kinds of attention. One person notices the fact everyone else skipped; another sees the pattern; another asks what the theory would predict; another simplifies the model or tests its boundaries.

The avatars are meant to celebrate that variety. No archetype belongs to any race, gender, age, or background, and no user is expected to fit only one. They are simply different ways of contributing to a shared process of figuring out what holds up.

Community Boundaries

These boundaries exist because the people and families discussed here are human beings, not entertainment or raw material. Receipts does not host case-based Topics centered on sexual abuse or exploitation of minors, or Topics that require circulating or speculating about a minor's intimate abuse. We also never allow gore, graphic injury or death imagery, or private/intimate photographs. Editorial judgment may decline any Topic involving minors when participation would become voyeuristic, accusatory, or harmful to surviving victims.

Support Receipts

Support helps cover hosting, databases, realtime infrastructure, and AI costs. Essential participation and epistemic authority should remain free; paid support is cosmetic or voluntary.
